Letting Go
This is my mantra for living the each day. Letting go of the past. Some days are better than others. Letting go of the bad feelings I've had toward circumstances, the anger, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, procrastination, unrealistic expectations I've put upon myself and those I imagine, at least in my mind, others have put upon me, control, which is a big one for me, and many other emotions that could fill a book. Instead, I am striving to replace everything with smiles, laughter, joy, happiness, love, friendship, and a pure yearning for squeeezing the most I can out of life. As cliche as it may sound, attitude is everything and makes a huge difference in the perspective on life. There was a book I read recently, which I have not finished, that says in simple terms, "life is difficult". It goes on to say that once a person accepts that, everything seems much more manageable. In a way, it's to accept that life is difficult and realize everyone, to some degree or extent, struggles. There is absolutely nothing that can be done about the past except to learn from it and apply its teachings to living today. Worrying about what may or may not happen tomorrow, next week, month, or year is pointless. The thing which matters most is living today as best as possible, because if you begin worrying about the "what ifs" of tomorrow, you completely surrender today. And, that cycle robs a person of enjoying the gift of life that we were given today.
